Once you have the purpose for your event, that’ll help you plan your event. And once you’ve promoted it, you’re finally there. The day of the event, or the fellowship, or the activity is here. It’s time to perform. And that’s what I want to talk to you about today: give you three quick pointers on the performance, the actual day of the event. What do you need to keep in mind?
Okay, we’ll cut, but we’ll keep rolling. What do you need to keep in mind? Okay, what do you need to keep in mind?
First of all, take care of your helpers. On the day of, make sure that you have something to help them out. Maybe you’re outside all day, and it’s as simple as making sure they have a bottle of water. Maybe they’re helping you through lunch, and it’s as simple as making sure that they have something to eat. Always make sure that if you have helpers helping you with your event, you take care of them on the day of.
The second thing for the performance of your event, and this one might be a little bit trickier, is to guard your spirit. It is very easy on a busy day, on a hectic day—event day’s finally here, something’s happening, something is bound to go wrong. And so it’s very easy for that curveball to kind of mess you up. But it’s just very important that on the day of, you guard your spirit.
And lastly, I would say this: put others first. You’ve spent so much time planning, spent so much time in the background getting everything organized, and it’s a little bit easy on the day of to be thinking schedule, schedule, schedule. But you’re hosting that event so that those people have something, whatever your purpose may be. You got to make sure that on the day of, you don’t get so busy in all of the details and the schedule that you forget to socialize with the people who are there. If you’re having a class fellowship, and you’re back and forth from the kitchen, and you’re back and forth from the yard, and you don’t even have time to socialize with folks, it can kind of defeat the point of having that whole event.
Also, it’s easy for you to want some kind of recognition because you’ve spent so much time putting this together. But keep in mind, you did all of that for that person. And that’s what the day is all about. And so lastly, I would say when performing on the day of your event, make sure to put others first.
