Growing up in the Bay Area of California, I did not interact with woodland creatures. I didn’t romp through the forest, or hunt on the weekends. The very idea of living life with “critters” is abhorrent to me. I bring up my lack of animal interaction to explain why I have always wonder why Pharaoh in the book of Exodus chose – CHOSE – to spend another night with frogs.

Let’s rewind, the plagues in Egypt have started and the frogs were everywhere. They came after one week where all the waters of Egypt had turned to blood. Finally, Pharaoh calls Moses and asked him to “Intreat the Lord, that he may take away the frogs from me.” Moses answers with surprise and asks when, and Pharaoh answered, “Tomorrow.” He chose to spend another night with the frogs. I’ll never understand this. Why would he not choose to get rid of the problem that day? Who in their right mind would put off dealing with something right away? Oh wait… isn’t that …

How many times have I said, “Tomorrow.” Pharaoh was in the wrong, he was disobeying the man of God by refusing to let the Israelites leave Egypt. Punishments were being doled out, and yet Pharaoh still refused to get it right. The desire was there; he knew that he wanted the frogs gone. The knowledge of what he needed to do was there; he called for Moses and Aaron and asked them to talk to God about removing the frog. But that is where it stopped; there was a delay in the process. A tomorrow.

What do you say you will deal with tomorrow? What is the frog in your life? Is it the bitterness or anger over a person or circumstance? Is it the frog of lack of service in your local church? Perhaps your frog is in the area of tithing, and you always plan to start, tomorrow, next month? Maybe your frog is your health, getting off sugar or walking more? You know your frog or frogs, and I dare say you know how to get rid of it? But like Pharaoh, you want one more night with your frog! With the grace of God, let us be more than conquerors and get rid of those frogs today!
