Today we’re looking at Acts chapter 20, verse 35, where God says, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Christmas—we just came through Christmas. Wasn’t Christmas wonderful? What’d you get? Well, I got some gifts, but that was not the big thing. I tell you what, it was such a joy to give to our 14 grandchildren. We’ve got a great grandbaby coming now. It’s so great to give to our children. I wish I had more, but I try to be very liberal.
Recently, our son came to visit. He preached here on a Wednesday night, Tuesday night, Thanksgiving service. Did such a powerful job. We tried to spoil him and take him to meals and take him places and Top Golf and his kids. And just, we spent a lot of money. Why? Because we love them, but it brings such joy to my wife.
My wife is probably the best giver I’ve ever met in my life. She just, if she has a $20 bill, a $50 bill, a $100 bill, she brings it to church. She’s not going home with it. She just gives constantly to every person. She always stacks her purse up with money. So that, you say, well, I think I’ve learned I’m not gonna take any money. She always brings money. She gives at every offering I give, because it’s more blessed to give.
Suicide, we’re told, goes down in December. Why? Because people are in the habit of giving. It goes up in January because they have to try to pay for those bills. I hope you have a good day. Please remember, it’s more blessed to give than to receive.
