Soul-winning is the act of leading individuals to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, bringing them from a state of separation from God into a personal relationship with Him. It involves sharing the good news of the Gospel with the goal of helping others recognize their need for salvation through faith in Christ alone, thereby securing eternal life.

Acts 4:10-12  “Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

The task of soul-winning is not merely about adding numbers to a church but about transforming lives by introducing people to Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.  Soul-winning reflects a spiritual effort on the part of the Christian that results in changed lives in those who received the message of salvation.

2Corinthians 5:17  “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Soul-winning is also obedience to the Great Commission, where Jesus commanded His followers to “go and make disciples of all nations” and to preach the death, burial and resurrection of Christ to every creature. It is a responsibility for every Christian, not just pastors or evangelists.  Believers are called to be ambassadors of Christ and as such, should proclaim the message of Christ the King.

Christians are to faithfully proclaim the truth of the gospel, trusting in the Holy Spirit to bring conviction and a new life. Soul winning is a divine partnership where God uses believers to share the message, but it is ultimately God who saves.

1 Corinthians 3:69  “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.”

The truth of the eternal consequences of rejecting Christ should motivate the Christian to faithfully share the Gospel to whomever God places in his or her path.
