Today, we’re looking at Matthew 6:21: “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” It’s very, very simple. Where you put your money is what’s gonna be of interest to you. I don’t read the Wall Street Journal. I don’t know how to read Wall Street because I don’t have any money there. There’s no interest. I don’t have any interest in the lakes and the mountains and the snow and the skiing and the weather up there. I have no interest there. I have no money laid up there.

But I have a big interest at North Valley Baptist Church. I have a big interest with our missions, with our bus ministry, with the radio ministry, with the live stream ministry. I have a great interest in North Valley Baptist School, Golden State Baptist College, and all of those things my wife and I are involved in because that’s where our treasure is.

A man came forward years ago. This had to happen 45 years ago. He was a professional man. He’s home with the Lord now. Very good man, loved me. His wife loved me. She’s with the Lord. But he’d come. He was so sharp, successful man, dressed so sharp. And he’d come forward every time, and every service, Sunday morning.

One day I said to him, I called him by his name. I’ll call him Frank. That wasn’t his name. “Frank, what’d you come for?” He goes, “Pastor, I’m here two weeks. I’m gone a week. I’m here three weeks. I’m gone four weeks. I’m just so hit and miss.” And I said to him, I used to walk down. I said, “You know, Frank,” that wasn’t his name, “Frank, it’s because you don’t tithe.”

And he looked at me. It’s all going on in the invitation. He said, “I don’t think you looked.” I said, “I don’t have to look. I’ve never looked at your giving, but where your treasure is, your heart will be.” And he said, “That’s exactly true. I don’t tithe.” I said, “You put your treasure here. You’ll be here.”

Where are you putting your treasure this year? In things? In toys? Where are you putting your treasure? Lay them up in heaven. God bless you. Have a great day.
