Today, we’re in 1st Samuel 17, and we know the verse, verse 29, it says, “Is there not a cause?” And here’s David, he’s not been trained in Saul’s army. He’s got experience that they don’t know anything about really. And they’re downplaying, we know the naughtiness of your heart, you know, they’re downplaying David. And David really is looking at the scenario saying, you know, the armies of the living God are being defiled by this giant. We’ve got to do something, isn’t there a cause?

I want to challenge you today to live for the cause of Christ. I love what Paul said in Philippians 1:21, he said, “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” He knew what his cause, he knew what his purpose was. But sadly, so many of us live like we read in Proverbs 18:17. It says, “He that is first in his own cause seemeth just.” I love that study on being just, it’s so important to be just. We know that Joseph in the New Testament was a just man, Noah was a just man. That’s a good story for another day, great study. But this says, “He seemeth just.” God wants us to live for His cause, not our own. Because when we live for our own cause, we cease to be just.

Now, I want to challenge you as we live for Christ. I’m reminded of John 18:37. I want to read this to you. Pilate therefore said unto him, to Jesus, “Art thou a king then?” Jesus answered, “Thou sayest that I am king? To this end was I born, and for this cause,” Jesus said, “I came into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth.” And then he said, “Everyone that is of the truth, heareth my voice.” Jesus was born, he said, for the cause or the purpose to bear witness of the truth. Today, Jesus is the truth. Let’s bear witness of Him. Let’s live for His cause today.
