What causes most Christians to compromise? What is it that kills many effective Christian lives? You say, “Well, I know what it is. It’s sin.” And I think we could probably say that. Yeah, of course, sin. But I think something even beyond that or more specific is this. We are too married to the opinions of those who are either not saved or their back slid him.

You study the Bible. The fear of man bringeth a snare to worry about what people think or how they perceive or what they say. Hey, can I say that can wreck a Christian’s life? We are not in this thing for positive Yelp reviews. We want to hear well done one day when we stand at the judgment seat of Christ.

The world has never been a fan of Christianity or the people of God. I was reading in Isaiah 53. It’s one of my favorite Bible chapters. And here’s what the Bible says of our Lord. Here’s his description. He shall grow up before him as a tender plant and as a root out of a dry ground. He has no form nor comeliness, and we shall see him. There’s no beauty that we should desire him. There was nothing about the Lord that the world would look at and say he’s powerful. He is brilliant. He is attractive. He has what we want. In fact, they despised him. They rejected him and they scorned him. The people of God have historically fallen into that same lot.

In the book of Hebrews, it talks about how the people of God were destitute and naked and they dwelt in caves, and they were martyred for their stand. The world is not our home, and the world is no friend to the Christian. And let me say this, not just the world, but even backslidden believers. You and I have got to get to the point where we divorce ourselves from needing the thumbs up or approval of man. And all we care about is having the smile of heaven and hearing the well done of our Savior one day at the judgment seat.

You just do well. You finish your course. You run your race. You just worry about what the Bible has to say, and we don’t care about what the thousands of voices out there chattering for our attention. Oh, no, no, no. Let’s just stand where God stands and stay by the stuff, and let’s learn. Hey listen, the fear of man bringeth a snare, and let’s just do the will of God in our generation.

I hope this has been a help in your Christian life today.
