Christmas is a busy season, and if we’re not careful, we can get so wrapped up with all that’s taking place. We lose our peace, and this is the time of year we should be celebrating peace on earth, goodwill towards men. We should be celebrating, as Isaiah chapter nine tells us, the Prince of Peace who’s come to earth.

As we consider Christmas and all the busyness, I want us to think about this morning, that first year, as Gabriel comes to Mary in Luke chapter one and tells her she’s highly favored, she’s very blessed, and that God is coming to this earth through her womb. Mary is terrified and afraid. In verse 29 of Luke one, it says, “And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.” Mary was troubled about what this angel had just declared to her, and as she pondered, the angel continued to tell her that she was highly favored and that God was going to send Jesus to this world through her womb.

Mary finally came to the conclusion in verse number 38, where she says, “And Mary said, ‘Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it unto me according to thy word.'” Mary found peace when she yielded herself to the word of God. So, that’s my encouragement to you this Christmas season. Let’s yield ourselves daily. As we come to the word of God every day, let’s yield ourselves, saying, “Lord, whatever it is you have for me, I’m yielding myself to you.” As we come to church and hear the preaching and teaching of God’s word, let’s say, “Lord, I’m yielding myself to your word.”

Mary found peace when she yielded herself to the word of God, “be it unto me according to thy word.” Have a great day.
