Hello friends, it’s my privilege to give the help for today and for the next couple of days as well. Thank you for allowing me to be here. I’d like to take a look at the book of Psalms, Psalm chapter 37. This is known as the “Trust in the Lord” chapter. It’s helped me since I was a teenager. Maybe it is geared a little bit more towards the younger generation, but hopefully it’s still helped you today.

It’s a little bit of my testimony. Verse one and two say this: “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass and wither as a green herb.” Start with these first two verses for today.

When I was younger, I was involved in the band and nothing wrong with that. Band and also I had. I love sports. My favorite was baseball growing up. The problem was that our games would be scheduled for Wednesday evening service, sometimes on Sunday. I wasn’t necessarily able to attend those, and so it really discouraged me at times. I would find myself really envying a lot of those that were able to participate in these activities I wasn’t able to participate in. Being young, it affected me at times.

I had to come to a point where I would make a decision, and I’m glad I did. I have no regrets. I’m glad that I made the decisions I made. But one of the decisions I had to make was, who is it going to be? Is it going to be the earthly pleasures or is it going to be the Lord? So, I’m reminded of 1 John 2 that says, “Love not the world, neither the things of the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” I had to come to this decision. Our pastor says it best, says it’s important to make a decision before you have to make a decision. That way, when you get there, you got it, and you’re ready to go.

But I’d find myself being envious a lot, especially of certain things. Why can I do this? Why can I do this? But it’s really, and we’ll get to this in another one of the “Hope for Todays,” but I’d like to leave this with you: You can never go wrong when you’re in the center of God’s will.
