The subject of soul winning is very easy to receive but a challenge for many to practice.
The average Christian would agree with me that leading souls to Jesus Christ is the responsibility of a child of God. We believe in the power and effectivity of soul winning, but the question is this—are we winning souls? Yes, we believe in the importance of sharing the gospel with those around us—but are we doing it? How much time have we spent this past week talking with people about the Lord?
I often ask myself these questions; because I feel, as you do for your own life, that I should be the best soul winner I can possibly be. I understand how we can become busy with our occupations, our work in the ministry, and the day-to-day activities which can consume every moment. Unfortunately, days can go by without finding opportunities to witness to the lost.
I remind myself each day that my primary job as a Christian is to lead people to the Lord. The command to GO to tell others about Christ was not given to an institution or specific group of people. The command to GO was given to you and me. It is every believer’s responsibility to tell others about Him. We are saved today; because someone—a bus worker knocked on our doors and told us about Christ, a soul winner, a preacher, a Sunday school teacher, a relative, a friend, or a coworker—led us to Christ.
We are Heaven-bound today because someone got a burden for our souls and pointed us to Christ. Now, it’s our turn to do the same work they did in reaching us. One day, we are going to give an account to God for what we did. You might have a lost boss or coworkers at your workplace, unsaved neighbors, or relatives… the list can go on. May we not wait to tell them about Christ; because one of these days, it will be too late.
If we don’t tell them of God’s free gift of salvation, who will?
