Yesterday, we looked at Song of Solomon, chapter 8, and verse 6, talking about love being a vehement flame. We talked about a dynamic love. Today, I want to talk about disappointed love. The very next verse, Song of Solomon 8 verse 7, says, “Many waters cannot quench love.” That just means that sometimes as you’re on fire for God and living for God, there are going to be some things that the cold water is thrown on what you’re trying to accomplish. There’s opposition. Paul said, “Look, there’s an open door, but there are many adversaries.” And when you have a heart and a passion and a love for God, there’s going to be some obstacles.
I want to encourage you to stay on fire for God. Even when the devil tries to throw cold water on your love for the Lord, don’t let him do it. Just like in marriage, there’s that newness and that excitement, but then down the road, maybe the toothpaste doesn’t get rolled up the right way, or there’s whiskers left in the sink, ladies, that should have been washed out, or whatever. Don’t let water get thrown on your love for your spouse. Don’t let cold water get thrown on your love for the Lord.
Stay faithful to Him and to stay faithful to church. Stay faithful to the Word of God. Stay faithful to be a witness and watch what God will do through your life.
