Today, in Genesis 32:27, Jacob said, “Jacob” – the word Jacob. And by the way, if you have a child or son or a husband named Jacob, it’s not a bad name. It’s a good name. My name, Jack, is a derivative of Jacob. I had a grandfather named Jacob, and I have an uncle who has been home with the Lord for years, Jacob. Now, wait a minute. Jacob, however, means “con” or “conniver.” And of course, we know Jacob in the Bible, that he defrauded his brother twice. But the Bible says of Jacob, as he wrestled with God alone that night, “What is your name?” And each time he was confronted, he gave something else. And finally, that night when his heart broke, he said, “Jacob, I am Jacob.” Jacob. That’s why I am. I’m a conniver.
Who are you today? Jack Trieber, who are you today? Are you real? Am I real? Are we whole? Are we godly? Are we what people think we are in righteousness? Today, I want to encourage you on Help for Today. Find out who you are, and if what you see you don’t like, let’s deal with it.
God bless you. Have a good day.
