Today, we find ourselves in 2 Samuel 18. Now, here is Absalom, and his hair caught in the thicket of the oak. He’s hanging there, he’s dying, he’s dead. David receives the word in the last verse of chapter number 18. David said, “Oh, my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom, would God have died for thee?” It says the same in chapter number 19, verse number 4. Here’s a brokenhearted father. Here’s my challenge for the day: don’t allow anyone to grieve over your decisions.

Never cause your mother a sleepless night, a prodigal son. Never cause your dad a sleepless night. Never cause your wife, your husband, a sleepless night. Never cause your children a sleepless night because of sin. Absalom, because of pride, tried to usurp his authority, but in the end, he died. And in dying, it broke his dad’s heart. Seek to live today that you don’t wound or break anyone’s heart that’s invested their life in you. Have a great day.
