Hello, good friend, and thank you for listening today. I love the book of Nehemiah. It’s my favorite Old Testament book. And it’s a book where something is being accomplished for the cause of Christ.
Here’s Nehemiah. It gets to chapter 6. And, of course, you know the battle is now raging. Sanballat, Tobiah, Gresham the Arabian, they just are really fighting the man of God, criticizing the man of God, mocking the man of God. If a fox walks on that wall, it’s going to fall down.
So they said, “Well, let’s try this attack. Let’s detente with one another. Let’s just sort of get along with one another.” And I like what Nehemiah says. “I sent messengers to them. I didn’t go see them. I didn’t have time. I’m too busy doing what God wants me to do.” And he said, “I am doing a great work. I cannot come down.”
My thought for us today, get involved in a great work. Being a wife is a great work. Being a husband, a great work. Being a parent is a great work. Being a businessman or having a job is a great work. Being a good Christian is a great work. Teaching a Sunday school class, whatever we’re doing today, make sure that it’s a great work, not a mediocre work.
I trust you’ll have a good day today. Take a look and analyze what we’re accomplishing for the name of Christ.
