Indeed, He is coming again, and we are looking forward to that day. What a wonderful day it’s going to be. Jesus is coming again. It’s a promise, folks, and our music speaks a lot about that. Why hymns? Why psalms? Why hymns? Why spiritual songs? Well, because it talks about these promises. And not only that, but the word for today is comfort. I love it. I love it. Now, who doesn’t like to be comforted, right?

If we could, let’s take a look at the first book of Thessalonians, chapter five, if you would. I’m sorry, chapter four, and we’re going to see verses 16, 17, and 18. “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. If you’re not very fond of heights, you better get ready, because if you’re saved, that day is coming.” And so it goes on to say to meet the Lord in the air, so we shall ever be with the Lord. That is a promise. I am looking forward to that. And then verse 18, this is the verse, the main verse I’d like you to see: “Wherefore, comfort one another with these words. Comfort one another with these words.” Our music has that power. The Lord has the power to use the music to comfort our souls, to comfort us.

And whether we’re going through a time of need or even the happiest when we feel like we’re on the mountaintops. But music and the hymns, psalms, spiritual songs, they bring comfort, and the Lord can use that. You know, we have many songs that talk about that. “No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus.” No one ever did. And so we have “No Need to Doubt Him Now,” other songs that talk about comfort. He cares for you. He cares for you. So these different songs, and I hope this has been a help to you as we’ve seen different aspects in music that the Lord uses and part of the reason why it’s important to speak to ourselves in these psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.
