On this Help for Today, I simply want to encourage you to seek the Lord every day. We’ve been looking at the Christmas story. In Luke chapter 2, we see the story of the shepherds in verses 8 through 15, and it’s a wonderful story. These shepherds are out in the field keeping watch over their flock. The angel of the Lord and the glory of the Lord shines upon them. They were sore afraid, the Bible tells us. The angel says, “Fear not.” You know, the message of Christmas is “fear not.” It’s so easy to be fearful and afraid of uncertain things and uncertain futures. The sky lights up as the angelic choir sings, “Glory to God in the highest.” The shepherds are just amazed at what they’ve heard.
But I want to read to you this verse, verse 15 of Luke chapter 2: “And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, ‘Let us now go even unto Bethlehem and see this thing which has come to pass.'” They wanted to travel to Bethlehem to see the Lord Jesus, and I want to encourage you, let’s travel through the Word of God so we can see Jesus. Let’s pursue Him every day of our life. You know, we pursue what we love. Think about a career. People are pursuing what they love. I love my wife. I try to pursue her heart every single day by little things and words I say and small actions and things that I want to do to try to help her to realize how much I love her. But if we truly love the Lord this Christmas, let’s pursue Him every single day.
