“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”

I Peter 5:8

Today, more than ever, it is vital for the Christian to be vigilant.  We are to keep a careful watch for possible danger or difficulties.  And when we don’t, the devil is there to devour us; to engulf, destroy, devastate, ravage, wipe out, and annihilate us. We must always be ready for what could be thrown in our path to cause us to fail or to be side-tracked in our walk with God.

What are our best tools in staying vigilant?

  • Prayer
  • The Word of God

These are powerful tools for the Christian.  To have a direct line of defense through prayer and the sharp sword of the Bible will help us to stay strong and continue to be vigilant against the daily attacks of evil in our lives.
