Verse 18: “Today, when they had heard it, they wondered all those things which were told them by the shepherd.”
These shepherds saw something. They witnessed something. They went and told it. They went with haste. And then when people heard it, they wondered. Can you imagine with me when people would hear this kind of news? They were not there. Can that be true? Is that reality?
We go door-knocking and knock on doors and talk to people. Many people, when they can hear, hear that their sin can be forgiven. Is that right? I don’t have to go to church. I don’t have to give money. I don’t have to do this, do that. I don’t have to go to you and tell you all my sins. No, it’s a free gift. Many people are puzzled over that. “Well, there’s nothing wrong with me. I’m okay. I’m not really bad. I’m not beating up my mate. I’m okay.” Oh no, there’s none righteous, no, not one.
People wonder at the things we’re telling them. That’s why we authenticate it with the Word of God. Don’t push someone that doesn’t comprehend salvation, but don’t back off when you can answer some questions today and tell them the good news of salvation. Yes, they wonder at these things. Yes, they can’t understand it, but God can open their blinded eyes. Let’s be faithful in giving the good news today. God bless you.
