This week on Help for Today, we’ve been shouting through the Psalms, going chapter by chapter and seeing different things that God has done for us. This week, we’ve seen how God sees us, how God keeps us, how God has done great things. But today, I want us to take our attention to Psalms 138.
The psalmist here says, “I will praise thee with my whole heart. Before the gods, I will sing praise unto thee. I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy loving kindness and for thy truth.” All throughout the book of Psalms, we see a heart of praise. Someone who is lifting their voice and lifting their heart toward heaven and proclaiming the goodness of God.
In verse 1 and 2, we see a heart of praise. And in verse 3, we see the reason. The heart of praise is because of a heard prayer. Verse 3 says, “In the day when I cried, thou answered me and strengthens me with strength in my soul.”
Aren’t you glad today that God hears and God answers prayer? I want to challenge you today to just go back through your life and reflect on the times that God has heard your cry and answered your prayer. And I think after doing that for a little while, you’ll have no better thing to do than to shout and praise God for His goodness.
