Welcome to “Help for Today,” and in this month of November, we are entering the Thanksgiving season.
I don’t know about you, but I’m thankful. I’m thankful for this season, excited to be entering into it. But as I think of this time of the year, I’m reminded of 1 Thessalonians 5, verse 18. The Bible says, “And everything give thanks.” But you know, that verse just doesn’t end there. It goes on to say, “And everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
I don’t know about you, but I have a lot to be thankful for. I’m thankful for my pastor. I’m thankful for my church. I’m thankful for my wife, for my family. I’m thankful for the ministries that I get to be a part of. But as we think of this time, we should always remember that, yes, to be thankful, but it’s amazing to think that God’s will for our life is that we are to be thankful in everything. Whether we’re having a good day or a bad day, it’s God’s will that we’re thankful. Whether things go right or wrong. And it’s God’s will for our life that we’re thankful through everything.
I’m thankful for our God who loves us so much that He sent His Son to die upon the cross for us. And because of that, we can be thankful today.
