Help for today, we’re in 1st Kings, and one word I want to think about today just for a moment is “respect.” Let’s live our lives today that we respect everyone.
While we drive, the person ahead of you turns the turn signal on, slow down, let them in. Big old truckers trying to get over the next thing, slow down, flashlights, it’s okay. In the grocery store, let someone go ahead of you.
Here in 1st Kings, the Bible says Bathsheba, she wanted to see her husband, and she bowed herself to the king. A wife bowing to her husband? Here’s a man, Nathan, the right-hand man, and he came to see the king, verse 23, and he bowed himself. Here’s the king lying on his bed, and in verse number 47, he bowed respect to his wife.
You know in life today, it’s all about respecting people. Speak with respect to people on the phone. Be patient with people. Talk kindly to one another. Speak kindly, Sir, to your wife. I’m talking to Jack Treber today. Speak kindly to your husband. Speak kindly, sweet, not loud words to your children. Speak kindly to your parents. Oh, may it be where God does something wonderful in all our lives. Let’s respect people on the journey of life, and God bless you.
