What is your ministry? I’m convinced every saved individual ought to have some place of service. There’s something you can do. I promise you that. There is a position you can fill, a need you can meet, a post you can man in the local church. You’re saved to serve. I’m saved to serve.
You might say, “Well, Brother Cooper, I don’t have the talent of so-and-so. I don’t have the skill of this individual. I’m not called to preach, and I’m not in a position to teach a Sunday school class. I don’t sing in the choir. What can I do?” I don’t know what you can do. I just know God has equipped you to do something.
I have before me the Word of God. Here’s what Paul penned in 1 Corinthians 12, verse 27: “Now, ye are the body of Christ, but watch this, and members in particular.” What that means is we’re all different. Not all of us are equipped the same way. We are not all bent the same way, if you will. Yet we have different abilities, different talents. We’re drawn to different things. We have little niches, but all of us have that little niche that we can fill.
I want to encourage you, be a serving member of your local church, whether it be shaking somebody’s hands, being a greeter and smiling and welcoming them to the house of God. Maybe it’s vacuuming the floors or cleaning the windows. Maybe you just fill your pew and say amen when the preacher preaches. Maybe it’s something like working in the parking lot. Maybe it is teaching a class or singing in the choir. Maybe it’s manning the nursery, and we know that’s going to be the brightest crown in heaven, the nursery worker’s crown. But there’s a job for you.
I promise you, you’re saved to serve. Not to sit, not to sulk, not to sour, but we’re saved to serve. Saved to serve in any station, saved to make my Savior known. That’s my job, and that’s your job as well.
I want to encourage you, get off the bench, get in the game. Don’t watch it from the sidelines, but be a servant in your local church. I hope this has been a help to your Christian life today.
