Today’s verse is my life verse. I have lived my entire life with no life verse, and yet last year I chose my life verse. It’s an amazing thing. For years, I would see it in the college president on an old manual typewriter. They had it typed on my diploma on a 3×5 card. It’s Acts chapter 20 verse 24. And looking back, I preached that text and another text probably more than the other text. None of these things moved me. Don’t be moved today, should my whole world fall apart.
I know life would go on. None of these things moved me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I may finish my course with joy. That’s how I want to finish. You know, it took me a lifetime. I won’t say how old I am, but recently, I had a birthday and one of the newer ladies in our church, she came up to me with a walker. She’s the sweetest little lady, and I gave her a hug and she talked to me. She asked, “Pastor, how old are you?” And I said, “Well, what do you think?” And she said, “Someone told me 98.” I said, “You’ve got to be kidding me. 98? Man, I’m a whippersnapper yet.” But I want to finish my course with joy. No, I’m not 98, but it took my entire life to get a verse. And looking back, I can see how that verse God directed me for all these many decades, that I could say, “This truly is my life verse.” Have a great day. God bless you.
