Good morning. Welcome to Help for Today. We have been in our study on the book of Daniel, chapter 3, looking at Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. By way of review, we saw that they stood out. We saw that they stood firm. We saw yesterday that they stood in the truth of the word of God. But as a result of their stand, King Nebuchadnezzar brought them forward, and he bound them. He gave the command that the fiery furnace be heated up, and they were to take Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them in the fiery furnace.

It seemed that these men were about to lose their life based upon the stand that they took, defying the king’s order, loyal to the word of God. But let’s look what happens. In verse 23, they’re thrown into the fire, and verse 23 says this, “And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down, bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.” Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counselors, “Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” He answered and said, “Lo, I see four men loose and walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt, and the form of the fourth man is like the Son of God.”

This one gets me the most excited when I think about their stand. You see, when Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, when they took a stand for the word of God, when they stand for the truth contained in the word of God, they served a price. They were thrown into the fire, but in the midst of that fiery furnace, the presence of God showed up, and Jesus Christ walked, and He talked with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. There was no hurt. Their clothes were not touched with fire. They weren’t consumed. They weren’t burned. In fact, the Bible even says they didn’t even smell like smoke.

I believe the truth is is that when we stand for Christ, Christ is standing with us. That we have in the New Testament is found in Hebrews. That Christ will never leave us nor forsake us. Can I remind you that when you stand, you may feel like you’re standing alone. You may feel like no one cares and that there is no hope. But can I remind you, you never stand alone. Because when you stand for Christ, remember that He is standing right with you. And when we stand, we stand in the presence of God.
