That is a true statement.  I do not particularly care for ties.  It’s a noose with decorations.  So why do I wear them for church services?

Church is where God’s people gather together to worship, learn about, and meet with God.  When we go and meet with someone who is important, we ought to be as formal as possible and who can be more important than God?

Our culture here in the States has long regarded suit and ties as formal attire.  In other countries where the climate might be warmer, suit and ties may not be in order but they always have something they consider as formal.  Where I was born, formal attire for men is called the Barong Tagalog.  It does not call for a tie yet it is considered formal.

When we go to church, we ought to wear formal attire.  It elevates our respect for the ONE we are about to meet – God.  It cures us of the casual attitude that is so prevalent in so many churches these days.

How we look shows how we regard the person we came to meet. I hate ties but I wear them to church because I have a meeting with SOMEBODY.
