I want to come to you today quickly regarding music and get a song today and put it in your heart. When I was a boy growing up, our church would often sing that song, the invitation, “Place Your Hand in the Nail-Scarred Hand”. McKinley, who wrote that, was at a Sunday school convention in 1924 and a severe storm came in. He was going to go home that night. Instead, he stayed. The next morning at that convention, the man said, “Place Your Hand in the Hand of the Lord Jesus Christ, that nail-scarred hand.” He wrote that song that evening, “Place Your Hand in the Nail-Scarred Hand”. And then continued to travel. At age 66, he was killed in an automobile accident in North Carolina. I had the words before me and today I want to leave it to you.

Have you failed in your plan of your storm-tossed life? Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand. Are you weary and worn from its toil and strife? Place your hand. Maybe you’re weary today. Are you walking alone, stands you too, through the shadows dim? Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand. Christ will comfort your heart. Place your trust in him. Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand.

Would you follow the will of the risen Lord? Well, place your hand in the nail-scarred hand. Would you live in the light of his blessed word? Then place your hand in the nail-scarred hand.

Last stanza. Is your soul burdened down with the load of sin? Well, place your hand in the nail-scarred hand. Throw your heart open wide, let the Savior in. Today may it be that we place our hand in the nail-scarred hand. Have a wonderful day.
