Well, it’s been a wonderful week studying this passage of Philippians 3, verse 14. And as we look at Paul’s life, he was pressing toward the mark. And today I want to draw your attention to three more words: “for the prize.” Aren’t you thankful that the Lord Jesus gives us an incentive? He gives us a reward for living for Him.

As we look at the Olympic races and the people that train and prepare for those races, they give up so much. They put years of work into preparation. Why? So that they can win the prize. They give up so many things. Why? So they can get that prize. They have people that invest in their life. Why? So that they can gain a prize.

And their prize is an earthly prize, a temporal prize. It will fade. It will get lost. But our prize is not something earthly or that will pass away, our prize is an eternal prize. And one day, I hope that each of us will have the privilege of receiving a crown in heaven that we’ll be able to receive that well-done, good and faithful servant.

But we’re not gonna receive those heavenly crowns, those heavenly awards, so that we can raise our head high and walk around heaven and show off for all that we accomplish for the Lord. We’re gonna gain those prizes so that we can humbly go before the Lord Jesus Christ and cast our crowns at His feet. There’s a song that’s in our hymn book. We’ll cast our crowns at His nail-scarred feet, our joy complete in His presence sweet. And I hope one day that we’ll have something that we can lay at the Lord Jesus Christ’s feet.

Are you living today focused for the Lord Jesus Christ so that one day you’ll have a prize to lay for Him? Have a great day, and live for the eternal.
