As we close out this month, I think one more day is ahead of us. But in chapter 4, verse number 5 of the book of Amos, listen to this verse: “And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings; for this liketh you, O children of Israel,” saith the Lord.
You know, I’m to give, and the Bible says I’m to give cheerfully. “The Lord loveth a cheerful giver.” But I’m to give with a heart of gratitude. Thanksgiving, I get to give. I get to do this. I get to give my tithes and offerings. And my wife and I, we get to give to worldwide missions. And we give every week to the bus ministry. We give every week to debt retirement. We give every week to the school, to the ministry. We give to Sunday school, any Sunday school. We love it. We give to the vision of the church. And it is an honor.
I’m praying that by the time we come to December 31st, I’ve been charting it, I’ve been watching it, that we’ll give more this year than last year, and any other time. Why? We’re running out of time in life to deposit and lay up treasure in heaven. But I don’t want to do it out of just necessity. And I want to do it just because it’s a rule. I want to do it with thanksgiving unto God.
Have a wonderful day.
