This week on Help for Today, we’re going through different chapters in the book of Psalms, seeing how great our God is. And today, we look in Psalm 124. Verses 3-5 tell us what our life would be like if it wasn’t for one thing. Here’s what the Bible says, “…then they had swallowed us up quick when their wrath was kindled against us. Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul.” This would be our situation if it weren’t for one thing. That one thing is verse number 2, “…if it had not been the Lord who was on our side.” All of these awful things would be the case. Our story would be a lot more bleak if it had not been the Lord who was on our side.
What does it look like? Our life with God on our side in verse number 6 and verse number 7 says, “…blessed be the Lord who hath not…” given us as a prey to their teeth. Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers. The snare is broken, and we are escaped. That is our life, because God is on our side.
