Help for today. The thought of today is verse 12, working our way through the Christmas story: “And this shall be a sign unto you, ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger.” You know, a manger is just a barn.

Today, I want us to think about our Lord Jesus. How lowly He came! He came as a baby, not as the king. He will be king one day. He came and humbled Himself. He came and put Himself under His parents. He came and as a child, He grew up with authority. But then, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, the death of the cross.

Today, if God is gonna use you and God’s gonna use me, it’s gonna be with a lowly spirit. God hates pride. These six things doth the Lord hate. Yea, seven are an abomination unto Him: a proud look.

Perhaps today, you need to go to your wife and say, “I’m so sorry. Will you ever forgive me?” You go to a husband and say, “Will you please forgive me?” Go to your parents, go to your children, go to relatives, go to neighbors, go to Christians. Do not move into the Christmas season or into the new year with a proud, arrogant spirit.

Jesus is born in a barnyard. Lowly birth for you and for me. Have a great day.
