How about today, giving thanks for food? Our Lord Jesus gave us an example, and he took that food and he blessed it, and thanked his Heavenly Father for that food.

Today, if we’re not careful, even our prayers with our children, here’s how that goes for the food. “Heavenly Father, thank you for the day, thank you for the food, blessed to our bodies, in Jesus’ name, Amen.” That’s vain repetition. Don’t be careless when you’re thanking God for the food. I don’t do it every time. I wish I could tell you I did. But quite often before I pray, I try to consider there are hungry people in this world. Some countries in the world, they are just starving. I think of a city in a distant country I was at several years ago, and you could see the ribs. I mean, the people were – there was not a large person there. Even that large city was very small, very hungry, just little rice they were begging for and looking for food.

May we give thanks to God. Thank you for your provision. Thank you for this beautiful meal. God, thank you for the hands that prepared it, but thank you for providing it. This month, not just on Thanksgiving Day, but every meal, let’s thank God for what he’s bestowed upon us.

Have a great day.
